The kids love getting in the kitchen and creating something edible, but even more so as the autumn sets in and the cosy nights come along.
We have been testing out a wonderful making kit from Nadiya Hussain, a previous winner of Great British Bake Off, perfect for little hands and creative fingers that want to get busy in the kitchen.
There are few things that evoke more memories of my childhood than cooking (and eating!) with family. Those custardy, fruit filled crumbles, crumbling scones abs buttery shortbread take me back to the first time I tasted them, I hope this is the case for my own children as I watch their creative juices flow in the kitchen. They both love to think up new idea to try and love being hands on.
The delux baking kit we tried came with a range of perfect accessories to get started –
- 2.5l mixing bowl (microwave safe)
- A silicone rolling pin with plastic handle
- Silicone whisk
- A silicone spatula
- 6 recipe cards
- 12 silicone cupcake cases
- Measuring spoons
- 3 metal cookie cutters with soft silicone edging
- A sieve
the set is brightly coloured and perfect for little hands, being easy to clean and store as well as hard wearing. I have actually found it pretty useful as a top up to my own baking equipment too!
I love the soft grip features such as on the cookie cutters and the gripped area on the bowl, these small ideas make them perfect for kids and fabulously ergonomic. The measuring spoons have clearly labelled amounts on each one and the boys have enjoyed having these most of all the properly measure things out.
We made some gorgeous cinnamon spice biscuits and some scones but we are also going to have a go at salt dough to get ready for Christmas!
Nadiya has brought out a range of different Baking Sets and these can all be found at Smyths Toys.
