Enjoying an afternoon tea at Halesowen golf club

Me and my fave gal Twinderelmo  love lusting over delicious, tasty treats and very rarely make a date and do anything about it. However, we ADORE an afternoon tea as it’s a chance to spoil ourselves, over indulge and have a good natter, so when we were invited to Halesowen Golf Club to try their new afternoon tea menu, there really was only one answer!

it wasn’t too far a trip for us and it’s quite a pretty one,  The golf club just appears down a lovely wooded lane that is dotted with bluebells, daffodils and of course the beautifully sculpted fairway. I was quite nervous arriving as I have never actually been in a golf club before, let alone just going for something to eat when I wasn’t even a member.

However we couldn’t have had a friendlier welcome.

Even though it was a mate date, Dexter had come along with me. I know this can be made difficult sometimes but the highlight for me was how welcomed little Dex was. He was brought a high chair straight away and he was very happy sat with the girls (and in arms reach of the food!) I knew that we would have a good experience with how everyone had a good chat and interaction with him. Really lovely to see and to experience as a parent.

we had a lovely view from our table over looking some of the course, it’s so picturesque and the scenic patio area will be much welcomed in the nice weather (we had a huge down pour on the day!) there is plenty of room between tables and seats so you don’t get that cramped, squished up feeling, especially when you are trying to spread out your multiple plates of food (just us?!)

Before we knew it two big, hot pots of tea and coffee arrived followed swiftly by the food.

Oh the food.

It was like a Tudor banquet and I was so ready to take on the lot of it! Presentation was impeccable and everything was fresh, soft bread, flaky pastries and crumbly scones. We even had two mini bottles of Prosecco on ice which was much welcomed. I don’t think you can beat an afternoon tea without some fizz, makes me feel like a queen! When we were left alone with our food, we just laughed. It was a bounty!

The sandwiches we had were on a selection of white or brown bread – ham and mustard, cream cheese and cucumber, egg mayonnaise and prawn and Marie Rose sauce. There were several big chunky scones that cake with butter, clotted cream, jam or fresh strawberries. I really enjoyed the bite sized cakes on some wonderful cake stands, including mini cheesecakes which blew my mind and some astonishing vanilla cream slices. On top of this was a large selection of pastries, we really were so spoilt for choice!

we definitely ate too much but it was too nice not to sample some of everything. We did both feel that could have been a larger selection of savoury items as it was a little sweet treat heavy and I felt that a few extra sandwhich options such as a cheddar cheese, smoked salmon or chicken mayonnaise would have been welcomed. Overall though it’s was wonderful food with such attentive and friendly service.

im sure you are wondering the price of this copious bounty? Well you will be as astonished as me to find out it’s just £10! I really don’t think I have had an afternoon tea at that price and for the amount of food that you get it’s unbelievable. I have several birthdays coming up soon and I know it will be a hit with everyone. It’s so social to have a natter over some tea and cake and you really could stay there all afternoon.

We were given this complimentary afternoon tea in exchange for an honest review.
