With Christmas around the corner I think most people either feel geared up and inspired or lacklustre and over it already.
I’m not over it just yet, I just need a bit of an ooomph. The hardest people to buy for are definitely my brother in law and then secondly finding stocking fillers for Freddie. My BIL says he is happy with anything (thanks for that!) and Freddie’s stocking fillers are a nightmare as the family tend to get him and little ideas I suggest and so we end up with no ideas ourselves.
When BritMums set the #sdfiverchallenge with Sports Direct, I was dubious, I have only ever been to Sports Direct for Richs socks or a rogue swimming costume I wore when I was going to become more active- and didn’t. However, this year Sports Direct have a dedicated stocking fillers section including an array of gifts for £5 and under!
I wanted to find a useful stocking filler for my BIL and as he is an avid fisherman I headed over to the angling section and saw the most perfect camouflage fishing cap. I know that he needs one as he always borrows my husbands so this was ideal! I was shocked there was an angling section on the website but after a quick browse I informed my husband as he too loves to fish and he said the prices were excellent and a great range of useful
The camo fishing cap was priced at £4.99.
Next up I was determined to find a fun filler for Freddie. There is so much to choose from so I arranged by price to give myself a bit of easier scope. It was then I saw the ideal gift for him.
My Fred loves a practical joke, mess and unpredictability so this splatter face game will be a massive hit on Christmas morning! I love that you can use jelly instead of cream as this can be eaten by Freddie and everyone else too! This too was only £4.99! I was slightly disappointed as the one side of the box was a little dented and bashed, I’m sure he won’t even see this on the big day but if I was buying for someone else who may notice this it could be off putting.
There really is a massive selection of stocking fillers on the website, with lots of children’s favourite characters, hobby items and brand clothing that can be picked up in the fiver price range (and below!) this year I am on maternity leave but I will be able to get a few extra gifts for nursery teachers, the postman and maybe my husband (if he is lucky!) as I can make my money go that bit further on a nice quality stocking filler.
The delivery charge was £4.99 and for me the convenience was great at the time I needed it, but luckily I don’t live to far from a SD to collect if I am in the area.
