Dairy free – Fudgey Oreo brownies

Having a dairy allergy is pretty crap. Freddie often misses out on treats on a whim because they contain dairy in some small form or another.

That’s why I like to adapt recipes where I can to make things dairy free for him and ensure he gets a treat once in a while!

Today I have made these gorgeous Oreo stuffed, extra fudgey chocoloate brownies by Marshas Baking Addiction and tweaked them to be dairy free. Marsha’s recipe is super easy and quick!

Here is the tweaked version

  • 140g dairy free spread (we used Vitalite)
  • 300g sugar
  • 75g cocoa powder
  • 60g plain flour
  • 100g dairy free chocolate chips
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 packs of Oreos

-Heat the oven to 180c and line a brownie tin wth greased foil.

-Microwave together dairy free spread, sugar, cocoa powder & salt in short bursts until the spread has melted and the batter is warm

-Add in the eggs and flour, then the chocolate chips & vanilla

-Add half the lined batter to the tin along with a layer of Oreos

-Add the rest of the mixture and then a top layer of broken Oreos

-We baked for about 23 minutes until a skewer came clean but with a slight fudgey residue was left.

  1. Ahhhh no it’s so wrong for a little one to be allergic when all the good treats out there are normally filled with diary products. Your fudgey brownies look so delicious BTW and I never realized that Oreas we diary free. That good to know

  2. can’t believe these brownies are dairy free! they look almost too good to be true! but nonetheless, they look very scrumptious! bookmarking this recipe. thanks for sharing!

  3. Wow I can’t believe this is the first time I’m hearing of this combination. Oreos and brownies are my favorite and I can only dream how good this is. Can’t wait to try it.

  4. Woah, I can not believe those brownies are dairy free! That looks so delicious-the warm baked brownies mixed in a sweet and crunchy Oreo! Must be a crowd pleaser! 🙂

  5. This looks sinful!! I love that it’s dairy-free. On my blog, I cover recipes that are dairy-, gluten-, & soy-free (my sister can’t have anything with those 3). I was going to say I should try making a version that she could eat, but she’s not that big of a chocolate fan. Maybe I’ll make it for myself! 😂😂

  6. Coming from a family where we are all either on allergy shots or medicine, I can understand how difficult it is to juggle goodies and getting sick (chocolate was #1 allergy for 2/3 of my children)… This recipe looks very easy and yummy: we will surely try it!

  7. Oh gosh these look SO good! How great Freddie has a treat like this! 🙂 Can I suggest you edit your photo size as your blog post too FOREVER to load. Us rural folk don’t have highspeed internet. PicMonkey is a good free editing service.

  8. Oh my goodness, these look delicious! I was actually in York the other week and had an oreo brownie in a cafe and it was heavenly, I’m so happy you’ve posted this as I’m going to try and make them myself! xo

  9. The perfect brownie is always when they are super gooey and chocoately… these look just that! I don’t need to be diary free but I do often try to be as I’m trying to give up milk….
