• (#AD) staying style fresh with Simply Be

I’m not one of these people that likes to make bold choices with my clothing, just purchasing on a whim – I don’t tend to leave my safety zone. This doesn’t meant I always feel safe in what I’m wearing – I would like to be a bit more out there -confusing hey! I have started making a change towards this, I’ve had some new glasses and they are I suppose what I’d call wild to what I normally wear but I love them, I absolutely adore them and I get compliments on how they suit me so much! When I was contacted by Simply Be to try some of…

  • #AD – date night at Bodega Cantina Birmingham

Myself and my husband live in a small town that isn’t too far from Birmingham, yet we have been to London more times than we have been to Birmingham! How does that work? Anyway, the perfect opportunity came for us to go to Brum and try some new food when Bodega Cantina asked us to see what we thought of their new menu. First opinions Walking up the the restaurant and inside was mind blowing, it was totally not what I expected. Vibrant colour, fun decor and amazing lighting filled the high ceiling main strip of the restaurant. There was seating down stairs too and a small waiting area. The…

  • Home town in the spring

I tend to forget I live in a gorgeous area for my home town. It’s so easy to take it for granted. I live in a sleepy town in Shropshire and it really is glorious as well as being full of historical nuggets and little quirks such as a castle and a cliff railway! What I love most is the colour that explodes with spring. I adore magnolia and they are scattered all over the town, even along side the river. They accentuate everything and the school run seems a lot brighter seeing the giant, full flowers of the magnificent magnolia in peoples gardens, then the snowy leaves gently blowing…

  • Lamb, garlic and ginger noodles #ad #meatmatters

This post is an entry for the #MeatMatters Challenge, sponsored by Simply Beef and Lamb. Learn more about the benefits of cooking and eating beef and lamb along with recipe ideas and inspiration here! For me, a meal isn’t a meal if there isn’t any meat. I am carnivorous through and through and my most favourite part of a Sunday roast is choosing what meat we have. We are very much a family that could love of the humble roast, a “cooked dinner” in our household is a gravy dinner with meat, veg and potatoes. All of us would eat one daily but I do keep things mixed up with varying…

  • Protection even for Nappy Ninjas #Bepanthenprotects #ad

#Ad. There is nothing more miserable and sad than a baby with sore, red raw nappy rash. Sadly both of my boys had Cows milk protein allergy and this was the culprit for some violent nappy explosions and the worst nappy rash – bleeding blisters giving way to red raw skin, this used to heighten at teething time when the acidic poo would just strip the skin and burn. The first 12 months we had lots of nappy rash and this is when it’s most common too. From two weeks old Dexter’s milk allergy was on full pelt and he was also on strong anti reflux medication, a side effect…

  • What I have learnt after a year of grief

I have been dreading this day since it happened. 365 days ago my Dad died after suffering from rare bile duct cancer, cholangiocarcinoma. Forever and yesterday ago all at once. I haven’t been able to write about it as it seemed too much of a confirmation that it had actually happened. It still doesn’t feel real to me but there are slices of my day when a dose of reality hits me and knocks me for six. 365 days ago you were still here, in your final hours, but you were here, with me, with all of us. We spoke and hugged and hung on your every moment and breath.…

  • Beekeeping – our new hobby

So my sister is currently making hives and hasn’t brought the family beekeeping suits for when we help out. Freddie loves his as he thinks he looks like a storm trooper! I love how interested he is in the bees as we all know how important they are to our planet and keeping us alive with the pollen action that they do. Not just the making of sweet sweet honey! (Even if it is so delicious!) I can wait for freddie to collect the first batch of honey and I want him to be respectful and not fearful of the bees, lots of people are scared of them because they…

  • A spring update with Vertbaudet

Once spring shows itself I have the urge to update everything or add a new feature somewhere in our home. A small change that just brings a fresh feel. Last year we did this with redecorating to bring some brightness in our home. This year we have been asked to review some gifted pieces of our choice from vertbaudets new range. I chose a giant floor pillow, outdoor rug and some denim jackets for the boys. Dexter’s room has been finished for quite a while but it always had something missing, so I knew that when I saw this giant floor cushion it was exactly what the room needed. The…

  • PJ MASKS RACE DAY Power Racers Review

Fred has loves PJ Masks since it started and it’s a regular in our household, even more so now Dexter is in his parroting mode and wants to be just like Freddie, it’s double the PJ Masks fun! He’s always making up his own story lines and rescue missions around the house, taking on one of the various guides of Catboy, Owlette or Gekko (he always makes Dexter be Night Ninja!) The programme fits so well within our family age ranges for our boys and it’s soemthing they can both sit and watch with no arguments. Lucky for them too that they got to play with the brand new PJ…
